You Treat Them Like Family

Everyone loves their pets; that’s a given. In fact, most of us think of our dogs and cats as part of the family. So, it makes sense that when our furry little pals are suffering, we want to do everything that we can to help them, much like our human loved ones. Yet, costly veterinarian bills can pile up fast.

To put this all into context, let’s first consider the typical cost of caring for a pet in general. According to Petfinder.com, the costs of food, supplies and routine care for a dog averages between $320 and $2,000 a year, depending on where you live, and the services you choose–and it can be considerably more in the first year. Caring for a cat ranges from $340 to 1,800 annually. Consider that, on top of this, the most common emergency vet visits can average anywhere from $1,750 to as high as $3,480.1

To make matters worse, many of these unexpected emergencies and conditions, like cancer, broken bones, or various joint or skeletal issues, require ongoing treatments. So that means regimented medications, scans, x-rays and possibly even physical therapy. Each visit, and each medication, of course, equals another hefty bill. In fact, according to Petplan, “chronic conditions that last for 12 months or more, such as cancer and diabetes…may cost tens of thousands of dollars each year to treat.”

Being good dog and cat parents, you want to do the responsible thing and give your pets the proper care they deserve. Thankfully, to do this, you don’t have to break the bank. That’s where pet insurance comes in.

Pet insurance can cover everything from exam fees to dental and even holistic care, helping dog and cat owners care for their animals without having to put much strain on their budgets, resulting in a happier you and a happier pet. Considering the joy and companionship your four-legged friends bring you, pet insurance can provide you peace of mind that if something unexpected should happen, you can return the same to them.
